Tawas names new head football coach by John Morris TAWAS CITY - A new head varsity football coach has been named at Tawas Area.
He is Timothy C. Webb, a standout All-American football player at Whittemore-Prescott. Webb takes over for Tim St. Aubin, who earlier this year did not renew his annual contract.
Webb was named to the post Monday by the Tawas Area Schools Board of Education. He also was hired as a language arts teacher at Tawas Area Junior High.
He served as the W-P head JV football coach from 2004-06, head varsity football coach at Farwell during 2003-04 and was varsity defensive coordinator at East Jordan in 2002-03. Webb served as assistant varsity football coach at Merrill and Howell high schools and has held varsity and JV baseball and basketball coaching positions at the high school level.
A 1996 graduate of Whittemore-Prescott, Webb was a member of the 1995 Class CC state runners-up W-P football team. He was named a USA Today All-American and was named to the Associated Press All-State team twice. He played varsity football for four years at W-P and was the team’s co-captain for two years.
He also played varsity basketball and baseball for W-P.
Webb graduated in 2001 from Alma College with a bachelor’s degree in elementary education. He played varsity football for Alma for four years. He was named to the first team All-Conference and served as co-captain.
Webb and his wife, Desiree, reside in Whittemore.
