Skating club took ‘Center Stage’ on ice Saturday by John Morris TAWAS CITY - Huron Hockey and Skating Association took “Center Stage” Saturday for its seventh annual ice show at the Tawas Bay Ice Arena along M-55 near Tawas City.
More than 100 members of the local figure skating club took part in the show in front of hundreds of attendees who packed the local rink for the 30-act performance. This year’s theme, “Center Stage on Ice,” had a focus on Broadway’s hit plays and musicals.
Featured skaters this year were from the Detroit Skating Club, Mt. Clemens Ice Arena and Midland Skating Club.
Highlighting the show was the Detroit Skating Club’s internationally known synchronized skating team, “Evolution Synchro.” The groups’ performance, which included lifts, was not only impressive, it was flawless and looked effortless.
