TAWAS CITY – Troopers from the East Tawas Michigan State Police (MSP) detachment investigated a possible threat directed toward Tawas Area Schools last week, according to Superintendent Don Vernon.

The rumors were reportedly posted on Facebook.com™, a social-media website which allows users to post content and comment on current events.

Vernon said police were contacted Tuesday, Dec. 18 after comments from the website were brought to the attention of school staff by parents.

He said, although there was no validity to the comments, which concerned violence at a school assembly which was to be held Friday, administrators took precautions.
