TAWAS CITY – A booklet describing finances and statistics – including education, crime, finances and other items – for the city of Tawas City was approved by the city council during its meeting Monday.
The booklet, entitled “Citizen’s Guide to Local Finances” was approved and accepted after a motion cast by Councilwoman Danna White. The vote passed 6-0. Councilman Ken Cook was not present at the meeting and did not vote.
City Manager Mark Moers described the purpose of the booklet and why the information was gathered the way it was, in graphical form, for the public.
He said with changes in how state revenue sharing is conducted, instituted by Gov. Rick Snyder, a booklet outlining the information is required by municipalities on a yearly basis.
