The Hats Off to Broadway cast prepare for their opening night on Friday, Nov. 1.

OSCODA – Shoreline Players is preparing to open their fall musical revue Hats Off to Broadway II this weekend.

The show is directed by Eric Joseph with Renee Diener as his assistant director and is  produced by Sue Miller with Chelsea Miller as her assistant producer.

The show continues the Broadway journey that the Players began in the fall of 2017 with Hats Off to Broadway. This production includes songs from well-known classic Broadway shows, as well as newer shows and even a few surprises.

Cast in the show are several local singers including lead vocalists Joseph, Diener, Matt Cleary, Parker Cleary, Rebecca Collier, Tim Curtis, Greg Gjerde, Jane Hackborn, Nicole Markey, Aaron Nelson, Emma Pendergrass and Linda Ramsdell.

The company includes Josie Agnello-Schmidt, Sandra Curtis, Shana Forbes, Lisa Mandeville, Angelee Nelson, Natalie Nelson, Nathanael Nelson, Teresa Nelson, Anton Orso and Seth Pope. Tina Wells will narrate the journey of Broadway shows and songs.

The cast has been working hard singing and dancing all summer in preparation for the show but many other jobs and people are required to present a live stage production.  The crew that is behind the scenes to make this all possible includes local people from all walks of life.

Scott Heinrich, from the Northeast Academy of Dance assisted with choreography on four group numbers.  Director Joseph serves as the lighting, sound and set designer as well as set construction lead. Producer Miller is also stage manager and assisted with set construction and painting.

Others crew members that helped create the set include Curtis, Collier, Diener, Hackborn, Markey, Owen Markey, Aaron, Natalie, Nathanael, Terese, Samantha Nordstrom and Diane Teddy.

Set artistry was done by Curtis and Sandy Spongberg. Katie Diener is the assistant stage manager and the stage crew includes Mary Staweke and Jackie Temple. The tech crew includes, Chelsea, Diane and J.D. Hock. Nicole King is the makeup/hair lead working with her crew that includes Connie Cleary, Staweke and Kari Wainwright.

Collier organized costumes with assistance from Renee and Nicole. Lisa Mandeville is the graphic designer, cast board creator and box office manager with Kathy Abernathy as box office assistant and the concession stand is managed by Rose Wilson with help from Eric Koppen and Tammie Wilson.    

The performance dates for Hats Off to Broadway II will be November 1-3 and 8-10. Friday and Saturday show times are 7 p.m. and Sunday matinees are at 2 p.m. at the Shoreline Players Theater.

Tickets are $15 and will be available at Gilbert’s Drug Store in Oscoda and Dinner and a Show tickets are available at Tait’s Bill Fare for $30. Tickets will also be available before each performance at the Shoreline box office including student tickets for $7.

The theater is located at 6000 N. Skeel Avenue in the Wurtsmith District, next to the Robert Parks Library in Oscoda.
