EAST TAWAS – The Tawas Bay Art Gallery will open its doors on Saturday June 8, inviting everyone to “Spring into Art” with mini workshops, refreshments and new artwork on exhibit.
Admission is free and workshops, including all necessary supplies, are $5 each. The open house hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and workshops run throughout the day.
“This is a great opportunity to try out a new form of expression with a very small investment of time or money,” said Paula Parise of the art gallery’s marketing committee. “Experienced instructors will be on hand all day to guide visitors in their explorations.
She said participants will complete a small project in each of the workshops they choose including alcohol ink tiles, fiber art magnets, beaded bracelets, acrylic on canvas bookmarks or a small watercolor painting that is suitable for framing or for greeting cards.
Also among the day’s offerings is a photography tips and tricks session with photographer Bill Lauderbach, to help improve success with a digital camera. Tips will include instructions on how to capture your artwork electronically for sharing or printing note cards.
Tawas Bay Art Gallery is located at 302 Newman St., downtown East Tawas.
