Zig Zeitler and Siusan O’Rourke will perform Celtic music Sunday at the Northeast Art Center in Standish.

STANDISH – Siusan O’Rourke and Zig Zeitler will perform at the Northeast Art Center, located at the corner of Grove Road and US-23, a half-mile north of the Standish traffic light on Sunday, Nov. 10 at 2 p.m.

Siusan O’Rourke & Zig Zeitler are an exceptional Celtic and World Music duo. Well founded on strong vocals and woven together with a broad mix of instrumentation, they have been bringing their music to fans of traditional Americana and Irish Music at festivals, special performances and workshops throughout the United States, Ireland and Puerto Rico. This popular duo currently reside in Saginaw where they own and perform at the White Crow Music Conservatory.

Siusan plays guitar and is a true alto and a second generation Irish-American from Brooklyn, New York. She chooses songs in both English and Gaelic, performing songs more than 250 years old and following it with a contemporary song arranged in flavors of the past. O’Rourke’s own original compositions also reflect the traditional music that she loves.

The instrumental landscape of the duo is accomplished by the remarkably versatile musician Zig Zeitler. Zig’s background is Blues and World Music. He toured extensively and had a successful run with his Zydeco Cajun Band for many years and has released 17 CDs. Zig has a wonderful open style to his leads on Bouzouki while peppering it with the rhythms of other styles of music. Zeitler brings crisp leads on the harp, mandolin, fiddle, banjola, octave violin and an occasional harmonica thrown in for the rebels of the crowd.

Tickets will be sold the day of performance when the doors open at 1:30 p.m. and are priced at $8 for adults, $7 for senior citizens, $4 for students and $2 for children younger than 12 years of age.
