Ray Eberhardt poses with a fish in each hand after a day of ice fishing. Eberhardt passed in January 2014 from Multiple Myeloma cancer. Each year his friends and family members hold a annual ice fishing tournament in honor of him and his favorite past time, which due to COVID-19 is being canceled.

OSCODA – Organizers of Ray Ray’s Fishing Tournament, which typically takes place in February, have decided to cancel due to the threat of COVID-19.

In light of the cancellation, they would still like to thank everyone that comes out year after year to support them in their effort to help the families that they have in the past years. The family has been able to pay it forward by raising over $15,000 in their brother’s name to help many families suffering from cancer in the area and will continue to do so for as many years as possible.

The cancellation, according to Rick Eberhardt, comes with a heavy heart and serious consideration. He said the last thing the family would want is to put anyone’s health in jeopardy. He added, they will be back next year bigger than ever with your help as always.

Although the tournament is canceled, the family said they would still like to help a family this year, but they need your help in doing so, as always this is a group effort. Eberhardt said he knows times are tough all around this year for so many, but if you are able to be a part of the effort this year you can send your donations to Rick Eberhardt at 2075 W. River Ave Oscoda, MI 48750. The family would like to wish the community a safe and healthy year.
