LANSING – Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel announced that Mark David Elliott, 63, East Tawas, has pleaded guilty to causing a crash which killed a 16-year-old last year.

WILBER Twp. – In a prime example of being in the right place at the right time, East Tawas Fire Department Chief Bill Deckett was able to alert the appropriate responders to an outdoor fire recently.

TAWAS Twp. – Raymond Joseph Jennings, 56, Tawas Township, is facing two felony charges as the result of an alleged arson incident on May 18.

HARRISVILLE – The Alcona County Sheriff’s Office (ACSO) recently issued two separate press releases, providing updates on both an April 2 structure fire, as well as a drowning death which occurred last fall.

TAWAS CITY – The Tawas City Fire Department (TCFD), along with the East Tawas Fire Department (ETFD), were dispatched to a structure fire on April 28, at about 11 p.m.

OSCODA – Several different agencies were recently dispatched to the AuSable River channel in Oscoda Township, near Bissonette Road, for a capsized boat with an individual still in the water.

WILBER Twp. – The East Tawas Fire Department (ETFD), Tawas City Fire Department (TCFD) and U.S. Forest Service (USFS) were called to the scene of a wildfire on Kobs Road, south of Davison Road, in Section 34 of Wilber Township.

BALDWIN Twp. – As of press time, the cause of a recent structure fire in Baldwin Township remained under investigation. But East Tawas Fire Department (ETFD) Chief Bill Deckett advised that, at this point, the incident is not being considered as suspicious in nature.

OSCODA – The Oscoda Township Police Department (OTPD) has confirmed that a man was found deceased on Friday, April 2, in a restroom at Van Etten Lake State Forest Campground.

TAWAS CITY – As noted last week, the Tawas City Fire Department (TCFD) – along with the East Tawas Fire Department (ETFD) – was dispatched to a structure fire at about 2 p.m. on March 29.
