TAWAS CITY – A burglary suspect involved in the Aug. 1 breaking and entering of the Chef’s Table II Restaurant in National City was sentenced to a year in jail.
TAWAS CITY – Iosco County Sheriff’s Office deputies were notified by the Michigan Department of Corrections (MDOC) Parole Office – at about 9 a.m. on Jan. 7 – that Austin Thomas Hulverson, 23, Oscoda, had fled from their office at 420 W. Lake Street (US-23) in Tawas City.
TAWAS CITY – Five felony counts of assaulting/resisting/obstructing a police officer are being faced by Travis Edward Moorhouse, 31, Tawas City. Each count carries a penalty of up to two years in prison and/or fines of $2,000.
GRANT Twp. – The Iosco County Prosecutor’s Office, on Jan. 3, issued a charge against Cheryl Ann Smith, 61, Hale. The charge is for failing to use due care when passing a stationary emergency vehicle, causing injury to emergency personnel; contrary to MCL 257.653a(3).
AuSABLE Twp. – A two-vehicle crash in AuSable Township has left one man with severe injuries and, as of press time, authorities say he remains in a coma.
HAYNES Twp. – Alcona County Sheriff’s Office Deputies – at approximately 10:36 a.m. on Dec. 28, 2019 – were dispatched to 5540 Beckett Rd. for a missing elderly woman.
OSCODA – The Oscoda Township Police Department (OTPD) was called out for a single-vehicle crash on Dec. 21, at about 6:50 p.m., which left two people injured.
OSCODA – In an approximately one-week time frame, starting at the beginning of December, the Oscoda Township Police Department (OTPD) received upwards of 20 breaking-and-entering (B&E) complaints.
TAWAS CITY – A habitual offender with a string of breaking and entering arrests on his record has been sentenced for yet another breaking and entering incident, this time for the May 22, 2018 breaking and entering of the Oscoda-AuSable Senior Center.
TAWAS CITY – A National City woman was sentenced to time served after her guilty plea on a charge of assault with a dangerous weapon and one count of malicious destruction of personal property-more than $1,000 but less than $20,000.
TAWAS Twp. – The Michigan State Police (MSP) are investigating an attempted breaking-and-entering at the Dean Arbour Detail Shop, located on Nunn Road in Tawas Township.
PLAINFIELD Twp. – The Michigan State Police (MSP) are investigating a rollover crash that injured two people, with the driver suspected of having been under the influence of alcohol at the time.
OSCODA – An Oscoda woman faces up to 15 years in prison after the death of her infant son, despite alleged warnings to her from the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (DHS) that it was unsafe for the child to sleep in a swing.
OSCODA – An Oscoda man who collected more than 300 pieces of digital child pornography was sentenced to 23 years to seven years in prison for his crimes.
OSCODA – Glenn Thomas Harmon, 48, Oscoda, will appear in Iosco County’s 81st District Court on Nov. 19 – for both a pretrial conference and a preliminary exam – regarding an alleged incident which occurred Oct. 22.
