LANSING – A man who reportedly threatened to kill a state representative has now been charged with multiple felonies after he allegedly made a threatening phone call on Thursday, Jan. 7, claiming there was a bomb at the Michigan Capitol building.
EAST TAWAS – A motion to hire an interim chief and part-time officers for the Tawas Police Authority (TPA) failed in a 2-2 vote at the Dec. 22 special meeting of the TPA Board.
HARRISVILLE – A Greenbush man faces multiple felony charges after deputies from the Alcona County Sheriff’s Office allege he threatened a resident with a firearm.
LANSING – Before and during the Christmas and New Year’s holidays, law enforcement officials throughout Michigan are participating in the Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over campaign.
TAWAS Twp. – Following a Dec. 1 incident – which allegedly lasted more than nine hours – David Michael Damron, 31, Tawas Township, was taken into custody by police for multiple offenses.
EAST TAWAS – Iosco County Prosecutor James Bacarella has requested that the Michigan Attorney General’s office assign an independent prosecutor to handle a case involving a fatal crash, which occurred on Aug. 31 in East Tawas.
PLAINFIELD Twp. – In recent weeks, the Michigan State Police (MSP) have responded to breaking-and-entering, home invasion and larceny complaints in Plainfield Township.
CHURCHILL Twp. – Troopers from the Michigan State Police (MSP) West Branch Post were dispatched to a serious traffic crash, at approximately 6:44 p.m. on Nov. 19.
BUTMAN Twp. – The Michigan State Police (MSP) West Branch Post recently responded to an address on Dutcher Road, in Gladwin County’s Butman Township, for a complaint of animal cruelty.
TAWAS CITY – The Tawas City Fire Department (TCFD), along with the East Tawas Fire Department (ETFD), were dispatched at about noon on Sunday, Nov. 8, for a structure fire at Augie’s On The Bay.
TAWAS CITY – Three Michigan Court of Appeals judges have affirmed a sentence handed down by Iosco County’s 23rd Circuit Court Judge David C. Riffel stemming from the conviction of a Hale man in a 2018 gang rape case.
TAWAS CITY – An Oscoda man who was charged with a variety of crimes, including stalking, was sentenced Oct. 16 to 29 months to five years in prison after his guilty plea.
OSCODA – Local realty businesses were recently alerted by the Oscoda Township Police Department (OTPD) of an attempted fraud incident involving more than $50,000.
