PLAINFIELD Twp. – The driver of a Ford F-150 sustained minor injuries when she collided with a tree in Plainfield Township, on Feb. 10.
The Michigan State Police (MSP) advise that the crash took place on Vaughn Road, near National City Road, at about 6:30 a.m. Authorities report that Candice Mary Springer, 40, Hale, was traveling southeast on Vaughn Road at the time. She said she was driving on the curve and hit a patch of ice, lost control of the pickup and immediately exited the road on the south side. She then struck a tree, sustaining a minor injury and also causing disabling damage to the vehicle, which had to be towed from the scene.
Springer’s passenger, a 12-year-old Hale resident, was unharmed during the incident and the MSP notes that both occupants were wearing seat belts. According to police, neither drugs nor alcohol are believed to be contributing factors.
