HARRISVILLE – Deputies from the Alcona County Sheriff’s Office (ACSO), at 8 a.m. on April 2, were dispatched to a fully engulfed structure fire which left two people with serious injuries.
The incident took place in Harrisville, at a residence located at 4790 E. Clark Rd.
The ACSO was advised that there were three people inside of the home. Deputies arrived within minutes of being dispatched, where they say that they observed the residence to be completely engulfed in flames.
The deputies were able to evacuate all the occupants from the structure, and transport them away from the fire to an awaiting Alcona County ambulance.
According to the ACSO, two of the three occupants were transported to Mid-Michigan Hospital in Alpena, and were later taken to Flint Hurley Medical Center for serious injuries.
When the Harrisville Fire Department arrived on scene, mutual aid was requested from surrounding departments. Assisting Harrisville were those from the Lincoln, Greenbush and Mikado fire departments. Firefighting crews remained on scene until the blaze was extinguished.
The incident is currently under investigation by the ACSO Fire Investigator. As of press time, the cause of the fire had not been determined.
