SHERMAN Twp. – A driver was issued a citation by the Michigan State Police (MSP) for being careless/negligent, after she crashed a vehicle on April 14.
The collision occurred at about 9:20 p.m. on Alabaster Road, near Binder Road, in Sherman Township.
The MSP states that Abby Elizabeth, Colburn, 17, Tawas City, was traveling west on Alabaster Road when she crossed over the center line and crashed into a tree on the opposite side of the road.
Police say Colburn admitted to being on her phone and losing control of the Chevrolet Malibu she was driving. The vehicle was then towed from the scene, due to disabling damage.
In the car with Colburn at the time was Trinidad Sanchez, 19, Omer. Both women were reported to have sustained possible injuries, and were taken to the hospital by ambulance.
The MSP later reported that Colburn experienced minor injuries.
