HUBBARD LAKE – A 71-year-old woman was killed, Saturday, in a two-vehicle, head on crash, according to the Michigan State Police Alpena Post.
The victime, Jane Lauber of Oscoda, was pronounced dead at the scene, according to troopers
Troopers were dispatched to the crash, which occurred Oct. 26 at 3:30 p.m. on Hubbard Lake Road near Scott Drive.
A Chevrolet Malibu driven by Benjamin Lauber, 82, who was traveling with his 71-year-old wife, Jane Lauber, were southbound on Hubbard Lake Road, troopers said.
A Ford F-150 driven by a 49-year-old male from Spruce, was traveling northbound on Hubbard Lake Road.
Troopers did not release the name of the driver of the Ford F-150.
A preliminary investigation indicates that the Ford F-150 crossed the center line and struck the Chevrolet Malibu head on.
Jane Lauber was pronounced dead at the scene. Benjamin lauber and the F-150 driver were transported to MidMichigan Medical Center in Alpena where they were treated for non-life-threatening injuries.
Alcohol is believed to be a factor in the crash.
Troopers were assisted at the scene by the MSP Seventh District Crash Reconstructionist / Advanced Accident Investigator, the Alcona County Sheriff’s Office, Alcona County EMS, and the Hubbard Lake Fire Department / First Responders.
