OSCODA – The Oscoda Township Police Department (OTPD) responded to a minor crash on Tuesday, Nov. 3, at 11:15 a.m. near the Oscoda Post Office.
Police said that Raymond Gosset, 82, Oscoda, was traveling south on US-23, near the Oscoda Post Office. His passenger at the time was Ruth Ann Gosset, 78, also from Oscoda. Mark William Jackson, 63, Hillman was traveling at 25 miles per hour behind the Gossets.
The OTPD states that Raymond, operating a Ford Station Wagon, turned abruptly into the post office parking lot. Jackson, driving a Chevrolet Silverado, said he did not see Raymond’s signal and was unable to stop in time to avoid a crash. A witness at the scene informed police that Jackson rear-ended Raymond’s vehicle.
Police stated that Raymond sustained a suspected serious injury and was transported by Iosco County EMS to Ascension St. Joseph Hospital in Tawas City. No other injuries were reported. Both vehicles involved experienced functional damage.
Jackson’s vehicle was drive-able while Raymond’s was left on scene. Neither drugs nor alcohol are believed to have contributed to the incident, during which all parties reported wearing seat belts.
