PLAINFIELD Twp. – The Michigan State Police (MSP) are investigating a rollover crash that injured two people, with the driver suspected of having been under the influence of alcohol at the time.
The single-vehicle collision occurred in Plainfield Township at 2:50 a.m. Sunday, near the area of South Branch and Wickert roads.
According to the MSP, Kevin Charles LaFayette, 34, Wyandotte, was operating a Dodge Ram, with Adam D. Hicks, 40, South Rockwood, as his passenger.
Police say LaFayette was traveling northwest on South Branch Road when the vehicle left the roadway, struck an embankment, rolled over an unknown number of times and came to rest on its roof.
He was reported to have sustained incapacitating injuries, while Hicks experienced non-incapacitating injuries.
LaFayette was transported by ambulance to Ascension St. Joseph Hospital in Tawas City for treatment, and the MSP notes that both men were wearing seat belts during the crash.
At press time, investigation into the incident was ongoing.
