PLAINFIELD Twp. – Two South Branch residents were airlifted to a hospital for treatment, following a single-vehicle crash in Plainfield Township on July 1.
The Michigan State Police (MSP) advise that Lucille Desrochers, 65, and Richard Alan Desrochers, 70, each suffered severe injuries during the incident.
According to authorities, the crash occurred at 1:41 p.m. on Chain Lake Drive, near Cedar Road.
They report that Lucille was traveling northwest, with Richard as her passenger, when the Ford Taurus she was driving ran off the roadway to the right and struck a tree.
Both occupants sustained incapacitating injuries, with Richard also having been trapped in the vehicle. They were transported from the scene to a hospital, by EMS, and then airlifted by helicopter to another facility.
Both Lucille and Richard were wearing seat belts at the time, and neither drugs nor alcohol are believed to have contributed to the event.
The involved vehicle experienced disabling damage, and had to be towed from the crash site.
