OSCODA – Authorities are actively investigating the death of Timothy Bryan Morrison, 32, Oscoda.

The Oscoda Township Police Department (OTPD) stated in a July 1 press release that they were dispatched at 6:18 p.m. on June 30 to the area of Van Etten Creek, near Merkel Lane in Oscoda Township, regarding a body found floating in the river.

Oscoda Township Fire Department personnel were also called out to the scene to assist in the recovery and removal of the found subject, who was then identified as Morrison.

The OTPD has advised that Morrison was last seen on Friday, June 26, at about 10 p.m. He was reported missing to the OTPD at 9:15 p.m. on Monday, June 29.

At press time, Detective Sergeant Erik McNichol says that authorities are continuing to interview witnesses and family members, to try to piece things together.

The case is still under investigation and the exact cause of death has yet to be confirmed, but McNichol notes that Morrison’s body was in the water for multiple days.

How Morrison ended up in the river – as well as determining whether foul play is suspected – is also being explored by police.

Anyone who may have had contact with the deceased subject (since June 26, after 10 p.m.) or who knows any additional information related to the incident, is asked to contact McNichol at 739-9113.
