OSCODA – The Oscoda Township Police Department (OTPD) continues its investigation into a larceny which was reported last month, totaling more than $5,000.

According to authorities, a blue Pepsi brand vending machine was stolen from Clear View Car Wash, located on US-23 in Oscoda.

OTPD officers spoke with the owner of Vend Pro of Michigan LLC, who rents from Pepsi the vending machine that was situated at the car wash.

The owner advised that the item is a Dixie Narco 10 select, with a blue Pepsi logo on it, which he valued at $5,000. He estimated that there was also about $350 worth of soft drinks in the machine at the time, as well as $250 to $350 in currency.

Police note that theft occurred in the early morning hours of Oct. 20, at about 1 a.m.

Video surveillance of the area shows someone tipping the vending machine into the bed of a pickup truck, with the vehicle appearing to be either silver, pewter or gold in color.

The owner of the car wash, according to the OTPD, further speculated that the tailgate of the vehicle was damaged during the theft.
