TAWAS CITY – It was closer than expected for awhile, but ultimately Whittemore-Prescott pulled away topping host Tawas area 49-13 in Huron Shores Conference football Friday.

The win gave the Cardinals their third straight league title and puts them within one win of their sixth straight visit to the postseason.

“It’s a great accomplishment and I think the kids will realize it later, but right now they seem to be focused on getting that sixth win,” W-P head coach Kevin Frederick said of his five-win Cardinals. “(Tawas head coach Tim Webb) does a great job preparing and getting his players to play hard. They made us fight for our yards all night.”

Despite seeing his team suffer their sixth loss of the season, Webb wasn’t discouraged.
