EAST TAWAS – Artists of the Tawas Bay Art Gallery, East Tawas, have designed and are continuing to make some individual craft kits for children from seven to 14 years of age.

The kits include an art example, directions and art materials to complete the art work. They are based on some basic art techniques, such as painting, clay work, colored pencil, textile work, etc.

“We are encouraging the young artists to add their own themes to the art work as they finish each project,” said Betty Fahselt of the artists group. “We are keeping the cost low, as we want to serve as many kids as possible.

“We realize that our Children have been at home for a few weeks and may want to explore some different ideas with art materials. We are starting this project small at this time, but can and want to expand as this outreach as needed.”

She said the “Kraft Kits” can be purchased for minimum cost at the back of the Tawas Bay Art Gallery on Friday through Sundays.

“After that we expect to be open for limited access at the gallery,” she said. “In the past we have had art classes, Saturday drop in for kids with art projects and Art Camp. We cannot do that at this time, We hope that this will help some kids and parents to keep some creative ideas and fresh ideas going through this quarantine.

“If you desire multiple kits, or we do not have enough, we will special order or back order kits and call you when you can pick up.”
