HARRISVILLE – After a lengthy public comment period, The Alcona Music Project has announced that the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) has renewed the broadcast license of Harrisville’s WXTF-LP for another eight years.

The Alcona Music Project, under the auspices of the Harrisville Cultural Institute, operates a community-based, low-power, non-commercial radio station at 97.9 FM. It also live-streams broadcasts over the internet to listeners around the world via www.979harrisville.org.

Doug Cheek, Chair of The Alcona Music Project, wants to thank the listening community for their support over the years. He added that with the license renewal and in support of it’s purpose and mission, The Alcona Music Project will continue to create diverse cultural and community outreach for Alcona County that fosters musical interest and artistic development with on-air music and educational programming along with community event support and participation.
