TAWAS Twp. – Two people were injured in Tawas Township, at about 5:30 p.m. on Nov. 4, when they were ejected from an all-terrain vehicle (ATV).

The Michigan State Police (MSP) report that David Clifford Barnes, 25, Tawas City, was driving the ATV on Lorenz Road, near Miller Road.

He and his passenger – a 15-year-old Whittemore resident – were traveling north when the front tire of the machine went flat, causing him to lose control.

According to police, both of the individuals were thrown from the ATV, and neither of them were wearing helmets at the time.

Barnes was taken to the hospital by ambulance, for treatment of non-incapacitating injuries, while his passenger was said to have sustained possible injuries.

The ATV experienced minor damage, and the MSP notes that neither drugs nor alcohol are suspected as contributing factors.
