PLAINFIELD Twp. – Brandon Earl Lavere, 38, South Branch, became trapped in the car he was driving, following the single-vehicle crash in Plainfield Township.

Michigan State Police personnel advise that the incident occurred on Vaughn Road, near National City Road, at 1:30 a.m. on Sept. 3.

Lavere – who was said to be wearing a seat belt – had been traveling north when he drove off the roadway to the right, striking several trees in the process.

According to authorities, he became pinned inside the vehicle and the Plainfield Township Fire Department had to use the Jaws of Life to remove him.

Lavere reportedly sustained incapacitating injuries, and was transported by ambulance to Ascension St. Joseph Hospital in Tawas City for medical treatment.

The Cadillac STS he was driving experienced functional damage and had to be towed from the crash site.
