AuSABLE Twp. – The Oscoda Township Police Department (OTPD) says alcohol is suspected as a contributing factor to an incident which occurred on May 11, at 12:35 a.m., in AuSable Township.

The OTPD reports that James Courtney Smith, 41, Omer, was traveling south on Lake Street at the time, near Huron Street.

According to police, Smith’s pickup truck exited the roadway to the left, striking a fence, after which he collided with a parked, unoccupied vehicle. From here, Smith then struck a residence in the 200 block of South Lake Street.

Authorities note that the parked vehicle, owned by an Oscoda woman, experienced disabling damaged and had to be towed.

Smith, who was unharmed during the event, also had to have his vehicle towed from the crash site because of disabling damage.
