HARRISVILLE – Officers from the Huron Undercover Narcotics Team (HUNT) made an arrest after busting an alleged active meth lab.
HUNT detectives executed a search warrant at a residence located on East Cedar Lake Road in Greenbush Township on Aug. 18.
As a result of an investigation spanning several months, detectives located an alleged active methamphetamine laboratory.
John Ray Cox, 44 of Greenbush, was arrested and subsequently charged by the Alcona County Prosecutor with six felony counts including; operating/maintaining a laboratory in the presence of minors, laboratory involving hazardous waste, operating/maintaining a laboratory in specified place, all punishable by up to 20 years in prison and/or a $100,000.00 fine
He was also charged with 2nd-degree child abuse, a felony punishable by up to 10 years in prison. Cox was arraigned in Alcona County’s 81st District Court and remains lodged on a $250,000 bond.
This incident remains under investigation and additional arrests are expected pending review by the Alcona County prosecutor.
HUNT was assisted by the Michigan State Police (MSP) Emergency Support Team (EST), troopers from the MSP Alpena Post, members of the Alcona County Sheriff’s Office, the MSP 7th District Methamphetamine Response Team and the Greenbush Fire Department.
