WEST BRANCH – The Oscoda swimming and diving team battled at Ogemaw Heights on Thursday, as the two sides met for an Independent Swim Conference dual. The Falcons got the better of the Owls this night, 116-66.

The night began with a second place finish in the 200 medley relay, with Joseph Rush, Ben Rudolph, Tyler Amrich and Daniel Snider taking part. Ethan Davis was able to win the free style with a time of 2:13.80, with Ben Berenkowski and Libby Mongeau taking third and fifth in the same event. 

The individual medley saw Axel Rayburn place third and Rudolph come in fourth, while in the 50 free it was Tyler Amrich leading the way with a second place finish in a time of 25.78. Also in the 50 free was Snider and Lilly Schall, who took third and sixth respectively. 

Amrich was able to add a second place finish in the butterfly thanks to a time of 1:09.78 while in the 100 free it was Rayburn, Rush and Schall taking first, second and sixth, with Rayburn timing out at 56.78.

The 500 free had Davis take first place points with a time of 6:13.28, Berenkowski was third and Alexis Ruemenapp was sixth. The 200 free relay had the Owl team of Snider, Rudolph, Davis and Rayburn take second and the backstroke had third and fifth place finishes by Rush and Mongeau. 

The 400 free relay had Rayburn, Davis, Rush and Amrich place second and Mongeau, Berenkowski, Ruemenapp and Schall place fifth. 

On Tuesday, Feb. 4 the Owls hosted a tri-meet with Standish-Sterling and Caro. Oscoda topped Standish 112-6 but came up short against Caro, 101-66.

This night saw Rush, Rudolph, Amrich and Snider place second in the medley relay, Davis, Berenkowski and Mongeau were second, third and fourth in the 200 free and Rayburn, Snider and Schall were first, second and seventh in the 50 free. Rayburn’s winning time was 25.28.

Rayburn was also second in the butterfly, Rudolph, Berenkowski and Schall were third, fourth and sixth in the 100 free and in the 500 free, it was Davis placing second, Berenkowski fourth and Schall sixth. 

The 200 free relay had an Oscoda team of Berenkowski, Rudolph, Rayburn and Snider come in second, the backstroke had Mongeau come in fourth, Snider won the breaststroke in a time of 1:20.88 and the night capped off on a second place finish in the 400 free relay thanks to Rayburn, Rush, Davis and Amrich. 

Oscoda was at Chesaning on Tuesday and hosts Standish-Sterling this coming Tuesday.
