Christian Ward

Oscoda’s Christian Ward eyes up his opponent at the start of his match during last week’s home North Star League meet.

OSCODA – Oscoda hosted the first North Star League wrestling duals of the season on Wednesday, Jan. 8. The hosting Owls were able to claim a 51-30 win over Mio in their first match but came up just short to Whittemore-Prescott in their second bout, 42-39.

“We continue to improve each time we step on the mat,” head coach Tony Lopez said. “It was great to earn a win over Mio and we did everything against W-P, but just came up three points short.”

Getting two wins on the night were Christian Ward, James London, Ian Boboltz, Zach Ouillette, Anthony Ward, Robert Host and Andy Dault. C. Ward, Boboltz and Ouillette had both their wins via pinfall. Dylan Judd also won a single match.

Oscoda (1-1 NSL) heads to Rogers City tonight (Wednesday) for more league action, travels to Mt. Morris on Saturday and is at Ogemaw Heights on Wednesday, Jan. 22.
