OSCODA – They went down, but they went down with a fight.
The Oscoda Lady Owls volleyball team was playing in a Class C district semi-final game in Alcona on Tuesday, Oct. 31, where their season came to an end in a tough five-set loss. Oscoda won the first two sets, but dropped the final three, with scores of 19-25, 23-25, 25-15, 25-21 and 15-12.
“I’d say this was one of our best all-around played matches of the season and what better time to see some key players really stepping up,” head coach Melissa Curley said. “McKenna Mochty did a great job moving around her sets and getting all of our hitters involved in the game. We were trying to be more aggressive at the service line, which ended in us missing a lot of crucial serves as the hashes were getting close.”
Leading the way on the night was Lauren Langley with seven kills, five blocks and two aces. Anna Pike had seven kills and one block and Kiah Holmes had eight kills and three aces.
