WEST BRANCH – The Oscoda swimming and diving team couldn’t quite rack up enough points to claim a win at Ogemaw Heights on Tuesday, Jan. 7. The deeper Falcons were able to outscore the Owls 112-64 in an Independent Swim Conference dual.

“The team has dropped more personal time this meet than any other meet,” head coach Elyssa Steward said. “We have seen some major improvements by everyone. I hope we will continue to drop time like this leading to the ISC (championship).”

In the 200 medley relay, Ethan Davis, Daniel Snider, Tyler Amrich and Aidan Backstrom were able to start the night off with second place points, Davis was second in the 200 freestyle, Axel Rayburn took second in the individual medley, and Amrich and Backstrom were second and third in the 50 free.

The butterfly had second and third place finishes by Amrich and Rayburn. Alexis Ruernenapp logged a fourth place finish in the 100 free and in the 500 free Davis swam to second place. The Owls followed this with a win in the 200 free relay, thanks to the efforts of Snider, Ben Rudolph, Rayburn and Backstrom. The backstroke had Libby Mongeau and Joseph Rush in third and fourth and in the breaststroke Rush and Snider were second and fourth.

The night finished off with a second place finish in the 400 free relay, on swims of Rayburn, Rush, Backstrom and Amrich.
