TAWAS CITY – Tawas Area hosted Ogemaw Heights in a rare Saturday afternoon Homecoming game. The Falcons were a bit too much for the Braves, however, as Tawas had to stomach a disappointing 42-0 loss.
“They are a well-coached and well-disciplined team,” head coach Aaron Hazen said. “As a team, we put a couple of drives together but we did not capitalize on those opportunities.”
Ogemaw had a big first quarter, taking a 21-0 lead and led 28-0 at the half before adding a pair of fourth quarter touchdowns.
The Falcons scored on their first offensive play of the game, as Mason Tousigna threw a 45-yard touchdown pass to Zea Kartes. Kartes had a big day finding the end zone four times, including touchdown runs of three and eight yards and he also returned a punt 49-yards for a score.
In all Kartes had 58 yards on the ground, 127 yards in receiving and he also had eight tackles on defense. Tousigna was seven-of-nine passing for 146 yards and two touchdowns, with his other touchdown pass going 19 yards to Nathan Gratton.
Karter Schmitt added 61 yards, including a 49-yard touchdown run on two carries and he had eight tackles on defense.
Stats for Tawas Area were not available by press time.
