Standish artist Laura Hepworth won “Best of Show” Saturday for her jewelry during the 53rd annual Tawas Bay Waterfront Fine Art festival.

TAWAS CITY – A Standish artist who specializes in jewelry was judged “Best of Show” at the 53rd annual Tawas Bay Waterfront Fine Art Festival held over the weekend at the Tawas City Shoreline Park.

In addition to the Best of Show award, Laura Hepworth won first place in the jewelry category.

Cynthia Stephens of Comstock Park won the Mayor’s Award for her art work in cast paper. Other top awards at the show were given to Denise Willis of Tawas City, Best of Michigan; Peggy Matson, Best of the Sunrise Side; Marilyn Bachelor, Best of Tawas Bay; Doug Markusic, Best of Judges; and Carol King, Best of Judges and Best of Wood Art.

This year’s judges were Midland residents Kathy Sullivan, a graduate of Central Michigan University, who juried the two-dimensional work, and Priscilla Olson, affiliated with CMU, who juried the three-dimensional work.
