OSCODA – Area 41 (a play off Area 51, located on F-41) Haunted Attraction to serve up frights every Saturday in October, starting Oct. 16, behind the Aune Medical Center from 7 to 10 p.m.
According to Old Orchard Park (OOP) Maintenance Supervisor Gary Scott, this marks the seventh year of the attraction, with varying locations over the years. In past years, a hayride was offered, but hasn’t been offered due to concerns about weather. Scott said that the hayride may return in the future.
The reason for the haunted attraction, Scott added, was to offer something to the community that was available to them rain or shine. The attraction, the same as years past, is presented by Charter Township of Oscoda, Carroll Broadcasting and OOP.
Cost to attend is five dollars (cash only) per person for ages five and up. Tickets will be sold starting at 7 until 9:30 p.m. Additionally there will be snacks available for purchase.
Scott said, the attraction is designed for individuals ages five and up and some scare differently than others. He added that no photography or flash lights are allowed at the attraction.
According to organizers, the attraction will take approximately 10-15 minutes to venture through depending on the crowd. In 2018, the attraction saw around 1,500 people, and Scott is hoping to attract that many as well.
As Halloween approaches, organizers ask that visitors remain patient with the expectation that the attraction will be busy. The Aune Medical Center is located at, 5671 N. Skeel Ave., Oscoda.
