LANSING – Law enforcement officers from 102 police departments, sheriff offices and Michigan State Police (MSP) posts recently increased patrols across the state during the end-of-summer Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over enforcement campaign that ran from Aug. 16 to Sept. 6.

LINCOLN – A house fire that led to the death of a 70-year-old Lincoln man is under investigation by the Michigan State Police Fire Investigative Unit, according to the Alcona County Sheriff’s Office.

EAST TAWAS – The East Tawas Police Department (ETPD) and East Tawas Fire Department – at approximately 11:40 a.m. on Aug. 9 – were dispatched to a multi-vehicle crash on US-23, near Tawas Beach Road.

EAST TAWAS – On Aug. 5, at approximately 4 p.m., the East Tawas Police Department (ETPD) and East Tawas Fire Department were dispatched to a report of a jet ski on fire, docked at the East Tawas State Harbor.

OSCODA – The Oscoda Township Police Department (OTPD) at approximately 3 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 4, responded to a call of a rollover crash on US-23, just north of Spruce Road in Oscoda. 

EAST TAWAS – An autopsy was scheduled in Standish on Monday for an 8-year-old Saginaw girl, whose body was recovered from Lake Huron on Saturday evening, July 31, at Tawas Point in East Tawas.

LANSING – Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel announced that Mark David Elliott, 63, East Tawas, has pleaded guilty to causing a crash which killed a 16-year-old last year.

OSCODA – The Oscoda Township Police Department (OTPD) is continuing to investigate the death of Joseph Theodore Sand, 82, Davison, after his vehicle was found submerged in the AuSable River on the afternoon of Tuesday, July 13.

EAST TAWAS – An open house will be held Saturday, July 24, from noon to 4 p.m., at the East Tawas Police Department’s new building and meet the new officers.
