LANSING – Law enforcement officers from 102 police departments, sheriff offices and Michigan State Police (MSP) posts recently increased patrols across the state during the end-of-summer Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over enforcement campaign that ran from Aug. 16 to Sept. 6.
TAWAS CITY – Child murder suspect Justine Marie Johnson will undergo a competency and criminal responsibility evaluation.
HALE – A Plainfield Township couple each face a charge of homicide-involuntary manslaughter in March death of their infant daughter, according to the Michigan State Police.
LINCOLN – A house fire that led to the death of a 70-year-old Lincoln man is under investigation by the Michigan State Police Fire Investigative Unit, according to the Alcona County Sheriff’s Office.
TAWAS CITY – A Hale man who was responsible for the car/buggy crash that led to injuries for 11 people riding in the horse and buggy, will not face jail time in the incident, according to Iosco County Prosecutor Jim Bacarella, after a plea agreement was worked out.
EAST TAWAS – Emergency responders were called to 700 W. Bay St. in East Tawas, at about 7 p.m. on Aug. 13, for a report of a power pole down and wires on vehicles.

EAST TAWAS – An autopsy was scheduled in Standish on Monday for an 8-year-old Saginaw girl, whose body was recovered from Lake Huron on Saturday evening, July 31, at Tawas Point in East Tawas.
LANSING – Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel announced that Mark David Elliott, 63, East Tawas, has pleaded guilty to causing a crash which killed a 16-year-old last year.

EAST TAWAS – Multiple agencies played a role in the recent arrest of an East Tawas man, who has been charged with 20 felony counts of 1st-degree criminal sexual conduct (CSC), as a second habitual offender.
