FESTIVAL PARTICIPANTS – Members of Oscoda Area School’s eighth grade class recently participated in the Michigan School Band and Orchestra Association District 9 Solo and Ensemble Festival held in Tawas City. OSCODA – On Saturday, December 4, 2021, six Oscoda Eighth Grade Band members traveled to Tawas Area High School to participate in MSBOA (Michigan School Band and Orchestra Association) District 9 Solo and Ensemble Festival.


Earning Division II (Excellent) Ratings were:

• Adrienne Beckner (flute) and Madison Boland (trumpet) performing a duet, “Bourree” by Joseph Bodin deBoismortier.

• Addison Russo (clarinet) and Ava Carafelly (alto saxophone) performing a duet, “Dance Song” by Johann Friedrich Reichardt.


Earning Division I (Superior) Ratings were:

• Maya Lopez, flute solo, performing “Bountiful Harvest” by Tyler Arcari.

• Jaidalyn Kotula, flute solo, performing “The Butterfly’s Escapade” by Mike Hannickel.

• Addison Russo, clarinet solo, performing “Il Primo Canto” by N. Hovey and B. Leonard.

• Jaidalyn Kotula, Maya Lopez and Adrienne Beckner performing a trio, “Ukrainian Bell Carol” arranged by Karen Lopez.
