EAST TAWAS – Iosco-Arenac District library will host Your Legacy in Stories, a virtual workshop for anyone interested in writing family history on Wednesday, Sept. 22 starting at 6:30 p.m.
No registration is required, and it is free and open to the public. The workshop will last for 1 to 1½ hours to allow for questions.
Workshop presenters Susan Carroll and Gigi Bott VanderWeele are owners of Your Personal Memoir LLC located in Pleasant Ridge. The workshop will offer tips to convince elders to share their stories, as well as writing and interviewing techniques.
“People leave property and valuables to family members, but with their stories they leave their wisdom,” says Carroll.
“It never fails, there are always family members who are shocked by their parents’ or grandparents’ stories,” says VanderWeele. “You may think you’ve heard it all, but until you ask you may be surprised.”
Tracing your lineage can be so much more than names, dates, and locations. Family history adds valuable details future generations can use to envision ancestors and their lives.
Access is easy. Go to the Iosco-Arenac District Library website home page at www.ioscoarenaclibrary.org, click in the box directly below the program poster to join. The programs will use GoToMeeting.
