ALL MASKED UP — Phil Odum, whose bird photos often appear in the pages of this newspaper’s Iosco’s Nature Crossing, provided this photo of a unique “bird” taken at the Oscoda-Wurtsmith Airport. This Kalitta Air Boeing 747 made national headlines after the company painted a blue face mask on it in recognition of the pandemic.

MITTEN STATE MADE
Be it Michigan-made and/or Michigan-themed, the mitten state is proudly featured in a number of products at Cathy’s Hallmark in Oscoda. The sauces, syrups and “Michi-Gummies” shown here are some of the examples. The latter was just brought to the store’s shelves this past year, and owner Joe Maxwell said that they have been going over great with customers. Stocking stuffer items such as this candy, were among the popular purchases during the 2021 holiday season.
